Five for Friday

http://doodlebugsteaching.blogspot.com/2014/08/five-for-friday-linky-party-august-8th.html

I went back to work on Thursday. Boy was it hard to get back into "thinking" mode. Still don't know if I'm there yet! Kids come Thursday.. EKK!
(Every one of these cards are so HILARIOUS!)

I dropped the baby off at his first day of daycare! That will be hard to get used to!
Here is a picture of him doing tummy time! He hates when we do it at home. But I was so excited to see him doing so well!
I had TOO much fun at the TPT sale! So I have been cutting and laminating, laminating and cutting! Ahh.. so much fun new stuff.

Last, made this product to use for my shared writing notebooks for centers! All I am going to do is print them out and glue them to the front of my spiral notebooks! Love that is goes with my theme!

That's it for today!

Back to Work

Today was the first day back to work for me. Did anyone else head back to work this week? I wasn't excited for this day to come because I was NOT ready to take my son to daycare for the whole day. But I probably never would have been! I was lucky enough to have almost 4 months off with him since April, which was so nice!

So the morning started off rough.. for me! Here is a picture of him in his new clothes ready for the day!
You can't tell but I'm behind the camera bawling!

It is hard to get back into the swing of things like thinking, sitting for long periods of time, listening to speakers! Ha! First day back and we are already talking behavior! EEK! BRAIN HURTS!

Hopefully, after a few more days I will have my classroom reveal up ! Until then!

Monday Made It: Last one before I'm back to Work

http://4thgradefrolics.blogspot.com/2014/08/monday-made-it-so-much-to-share.html
Pop over and link up!
This is my last MMI before I head back to work. NOO! I love crafting and won't have much time for it anymore! Boo! So I really got busy this last week! There were several things I have seen others make and had to get them done!
I saw this idea from Tales of Frogs and Cupcakes a couple weeks ago!
I had all these little wood pieces laying around because they were on sale at one time, and who can pass that up!?
So excited when I saw these pointers created! I am going to use these for lots of things! I think they will make great reading pointers for our Daily 5!
This idea came from 3rd Grade is My Life. She had some ugly trays just like me! Thanks for the idea!
I have been using these for my M-F organization of papers/supplies. I got some Teal and Yellow spray paint and went to town!

These are going to look SO much better in my room! Now, I just need some labels for the front!
The pallet couch is finally finished! Woohoo! Awesome project! If you want to read how I made this check it out here.
I'm really going to try and get my kiddos more involved with technology this year. All the teachers got an ipad last year so we can learn to start using it in our classrooms. Well, obviously, I am letting my kids use mine for centers and things. So I am obsessed with QR codes! I found such an easy free maker online! Check out these 2 sets of task cards I am going to use in my classroom! So excited!

Finally... The best DIY project of the summer!

I have been having so much fun making things and changing things in and out of our house this summer. Some things have been small and some bigger. But the BEST project, of course, was from Pinterest. And my poor hubby got roped into doing most of it! HA!

I posted this picture awhile ago on my Wordless Wednesday when it was still in the works. Now we are done and I'm read to share!
Ta Da!! Here is the end result!
A PALLET COUCH! IT'S AWESOME
Now for the materials and steps to complete this project.
(Some of these pictures are not in order. Hard to capture when your husband is speeding through it!)

Materials:
6 Pallets: We used 4 for the seating part and 2 were cut up for the back
(We got these pallets for free! I'm not going to lie.. I was stalking Craiglist.. they go fast!)
Watch the size of the pallets.. we used big ones and it was hard to find cushions!
6 Stainless Steel Rolling Wheels
Screws
Drill
Saw

Steps:
1. The base of the couch needs to have the same size of pallets because you will be stacking 2 on top of each other. .
2. We used some heavy duty screws to secure the 2 pallets together. (We had some "ugly" sections on these pallets, so they went on the bottom!

3. Then we attached 2 more pallets on top of these two.
4. Next, my husband attached the wheels to the bottom. We used 6 wheels because it was so long and I wanted to be able to move it around the patio. We did one wheel in each corner and 1 in the front and back of the middle.
4. Then, we cut up 2 pallets to create the back of the couch. Again, secure them with heavy duty screws.
5. We did add some extra pieces of wood in some of the slats to sturdy up the couch, but yours may be different. We just used extra pallet pieces as you can see in the picture.
6. Voila! We were done! Now to find the cushions.

The HARDEST part of this whole thing was finding the cushions. Who would've thought! I did not want to spend a bunch of money on cushions, because this was supposed to be a basically free project (minus the wheels). After we finished building we had about 90 inches in length and about 40 in width. Not your typical cushion size.
I looked online.. nothing.
I looked in the stores.. nothing.
I went to the craft stores to look at foam and fabric... WAY too expensive.
Finally.. at good ol' Walmart I found some lounge cushions that I thought could work. But still not super cheap! At least they were on summer clearance.

This is still a work in progress. I am going attach some velcro to the couch and cushions so that they don't slip all the time. And I am going to make a small drink tray to sit on the side where the cushion doesn't reach. I will update with that when it's done. But it may be awhile we are worn out!

But overall.. I love it! Thank you Pinterest!

August Currently

Yay! I've actually remembered to do this! Last month, I completely forgot! So here it is! Go link up here!

I can't believe summer is over! It went SO fast. I'm totally dreading dropping Ryder off at the daycare on Thursday.. it's going to be rough! And I have a TON of stuff to do in my classroom since I am teaching a new grade this year! Yikes!

Have a great weekend!

I finished my makeover of my bathroom cabinet! Here is the before and after. It looks so much better in the darker color. I will be blogging about how I did this makeover soon, so easy!

I spent a couple hours in my classroom this week and it's coming together! (still have lots of piles to pick up)

(This is a terrible picture!)
I started printing and cutting out 2 awesome products I purchased. "Geography Question of the week" and "That's a Fact, Jack!" I HAD to have the 2nd one because it had Si from Duck Dynasty on it. Hilarious! My kids will love it!
We got to go on a little visit to Lawrence to shop. Bubba got to ride in the carry on! This is his "She's making me shop. ugh" look!
Last, I finished up a couple of products before the BIG SALE on Monday!
