Classroom Tour- Picture Overload!

Welcome to my classroom! I was so excited to get a room with windows this year! I have kept with my Road Trip Theme this year!
Here is our board right outside our room!
I made this board to keep track of where my students are. When they are leaving the room for any reason they must move their magnet (with their number on it) to show where they are. Because no doubt I will forget where someone has gone! :)
Here is my calendar and lunch count! WHERE IS MY NUMBER 3??! I cannot find it anywhere! Lunch count: students move their numbered stick in the fry box of their choice!
Here is my learning target section and soon to be math calendar board. These magnetic strips are AWESOME! Way better then duct tape.
This is my movable word wall I created last year!
The carpet area with my awesome rocker! The map blanket was given to me by a parent. So neat!
Library area. I didn't show you my books because they are still a MESS!
My desk! Love my spray painted file holders.. so much better than gray!
Job board, turn in boxes, and mail.
Star student board.
Materials and my palm tree! I have gotten so many compliments on this and its so easy to make! Its just a pvc pipe in a cement container, with an umbrella on top, and then I cut out green paper!

Guided table, materials, and reading focus board.
 Boggle (love!) and materials.

There is it.. wow that was a lot of pictures! All I still need to do is get my license plates with my kids' names on the door! Those are my favorites!
Ready for my first full week of school starting tomorrow with my thirds!

Five for Friday July 25th

It's time for Five for Friday again. These weeks are going so fast, I don't want summer to end!!
http://doodlebugsteaching.blogspot.com/2014/07/five-for-friday-linky-party-july-25th.html

Monday I got to hang out with my best friend for awhile before school starts! Yay! I went up to visit her and we got lunch and did a little shopping. Love it!

I finally got myself to my classroom. Ugh. What a mess! Luckily, my mom came with me! She is a pro at covering bulletin boards!
Almost done with this project! Can't wait to get this bathroom put back together!
I started printing out new things to use in my classroom! Can't wait to write about how they work once school starts!
Today, I am headed down to the lake with my family. We have having a "mini-vacation" tomorrow near the dam! Sounds like go-carting, mini-golf, and shopping! Yay!

That's it for now!

B2S Linky & Wordless Wednesday!

Pop over to Miss D's and Miss V's to link up!
Today's topic is Assessment.
I was trying to decide what type or part of assessment I wanted to write about. I decided on something that I would like some ideas about!
Fact Mastery
How do you assess mastery of facts?
(Addition, Subtraction, Multiplication)
At my school we are really trying to focus on mastery of facts. Last year, I taught 5th grade. It was really difficult teaching equivalent fractions to students who had never mastered their multiplication facts. Rough! So I am really going to hit multiplication hard this year in 3rd. I'm sure I will also have to go back to addition and subtraction. (Pet Peeve: Solving simple problems like 5+4 by counting on your fingers ah! Especially in 5th grade!)
Here is a list of some thing that I do with facts in my room already
- Timed tests
- Around the world/flashcards
- Interactive Notebook entries
- Problem Solving prompts
- Math calendar (Love this, I need to write a post about this awesome product)
- And I just purchased this Multiplication Incentive program which looks awesome. I am going to try it out this year!
So questions:
How do you teach fact mastery?
Do you use timed tests?
Do you have any simple tricks to get more fact practice in during the day?
How do you assess and how often their fact mastery?

Two for Tuesday

http://www.theteachingtribune.com/2014/07/two-for-tuesday-71514.html
Trying out this linky I found today! Looks like fun! Thanks to Martha at the Teaching Tribune for hosting! I am going with a Reading theme today!

Here are the 2 products that I have put on sale for 50% for today!

The first is a new product I finished up yesterday. I'm so pumped about this one. I am going to print and laminate these today!

What I'm using them for:
-I saw a large wooden sign created with book places on Pinterest. I haven't got around to that yet, looks like it will take a lot of work. So I created my own book places clipart to use in my classroom!
-I am going to print out the colored arrows pretty large and laminate them. Then I am going to attach them to a long piece of construction paper for the sign post. This is going to look great in my classroom library!
-There are some ready made sign posts for you to use as well!
-I am also going to use them for library activities as clipart!

Next up, my Story Map Cards.
Included in this set are Story Map cards and What's the Big Idea cards.

What I use them for:
During small guided reading groups I use these for the stories we are reading. I just assign each student a box and a sticky note and they have to record the needed information. (I usually rotate boxes so that each student gets to do all the boxes) it really gets them into the story because they know they will be assigned something to write about. You could also color code the sticky notes to a specific group so that you can leave them up! My students loved this last year. I don't know what it is about sticky notes but they are always excited to use them!

Here is what it looked like in my room last year!
That's it for today! I have already found things I need to purchase!

Happy Tuesday!

4th of July Monday Made it!

This is my favorite Monday Made it yet! Make sure you link up!
http://4thgradefrolics.blogspot.com/
This is my favorite project so far! I have seen tons of pallet projects on Pinterest! My friend and I finally decided to make one! This is just in time for July 4th and SO EASY!

All you need is a pallet (which you can find for free), red, white, and blue paint, and a star stencil! We used small rollers for the red and white, and then painted on the blue! It took maybe 30 minutes!

Here is our before and after pics! I love how our different pallets made a different look!

I love how this looks with my flowers in front! Happy 4th!

My mom HAD to have one for the lake, so here it is!
I have been working on this project for what seems like forever! I wanted some cute flashcards for the Fry Hundred Word lists. So I created some! And they come with the cards for the game BANG, which my kids love! I like having all the sets because then I can differentiate words for each student! I made a bundle or there are individual sets! Check them out at my store!

Last, is a cheap easy picture frame! I purchased some $1 frames from the Dollar Tree. LOVE! And then painted it to match my photo! I just love the orange! Isn't my little dinosaur cute!?
That's all for now! So excited to see other Made its!

Monday Made it June 23rd

I am back for the next Monday Made It. This really helps me get some things done during the summer while still relaxing!

I have to tell you about my find! I usually make a point to watch Shark Tank occasionally. And they made a deal for a new product called GrooveBook. It is awesome! For 2.99 a month it will send you 100 photo prints from your phone! I NEEDED this. I have been taking so many picture of my son that I would never keep up with printing them! Here's a picture of the app, check it out! I will post again when I get my pictures in the mail!

I was looking through some of my Back to School items and decided to whip up a Freebie for an activity I use during the first week of school. I love how it goes with my Road Trip Theme! Unfortunately, I didn't take pictures of my students' work last year when we did this activity, but I think you'll get the idea! Click the picture to grab a copy!

Have a great day!
